Crepe de Chine Silk Scarf: Amy Yao

In December of 2011, artist Pentti Monkkonen commissioned 10 artists to create prints to be made into silk scarves. Each scarf is a full-color digital print in an edition of 10, making a total of 100 scarves in the series. The scarves made their debut at Ooga Booga in late December, 2011.

Amy Yao is an artist based in Los Angeles, CA, and New York City, and a former member of the all-female teen punk band Emily’s Sassy Lime (ESL). Solo exhibitions include Skeletons on a Bender at 47 Canal in New York; The Real Housewives at New Jerseyy in Basel, Switzerland; Kawaii at Green Tea Gallery, Pahoa, Hawaii; and Mistress, oooof! Les Bourses…,Green Gallery in Milwaukee. Yao has also participated in numerous group exhibitions including White Petals Surround Your Yellow Heart, ICA, Philadelphia, PA; Emergency Cheesecake, Whitney Museum of Art, New York, NY; America Through A Chinese Lens, Museum of Chinese in America, New York, NY; Looking Back: The Sixth White Columns Annual, selected by Ken Okiishi and Nick Mauss, White Columns, NY; Greater New York, P.S.1/ MoMA, New York, NY.
