Dancehall Queen: Erotic Subversion/Subversión erótica is a bilingual book focused on the Dancehall Queen phenomenon that emerged from a dance style performed only by women. It carried the fashion, attitude, and style that cemented this phenomenon from inside the Dancehall. Created in 1992, it transformed into a contest in 1999, within the context of the musical and cultural scene that developed around Dancehall and the rise of the Soundsystems within the popular neighborhoods of Kingston, Jamaica. Today, it has spread across the world.
