In the Spring of 2018, Los Angeles-based artists Akina Cox and Yasmine Diaz met through mutual friends. After exchanging studio visits, they discovered that they had similar experiences having to separate themselves from their ultra-conservative families.
The book collects their emails exchanged after their studio visits delving into how their childhoods have affected their lives and how they were able to separate themselves from their families and how they deal with that now as well as more mundane topics like house plants and banana bread. Pictures of them from their childhood are also included.
